At the Law Enforcement and Public Health (LEPH) 2024 conference, over 150 participants gathered to explore the critical intersection of policing, public health, and community safety across Africa. This landmark event aimed to strengthen networks and foster collaboration in a nascent field within the region.
The Secure Communities Forum (SCF) played a central role, with three presentations including by our Secretariat, Eitan Charnoff, focusing on innovative approaches to public health and policing collaboration, particularly in African contexts. Additionally, Stan Gilmour, SCF avisory board member and experienced law enforcement leader, contributed his expertise on the integration of public health approaches within community safety frameworks.

Over 100 participants attended represented over 15 nations, including Malawi, Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Botswana, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zaire, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Eswatini, UK, St. Helena, Sweden, USA, Australia, and more.
This conference marked a significant step toward fostering collaboration and innovative approaches to enhance public health and community safety in Africa and beyond.
